It has been several years since Apache Trail (SR-88) was damaged during a rain storm. The Federal Highway Administration has completed their studies.
Last Fall (2022), ADOT received funding from the Arizona state legislature to study improvements to 7 miles of the 11 mile project. The funding includes the area between mileposts 222-229.
The study will determine the feasibility of re-opening this roadway to vehicles and improving the ability of the roadway to resist damage during storms.
SR-88 makes its way from Apache Junction to Roosevelt Lake. The portion of the highway being studied runs from Fish Creek Overlook to Apache Lake Marina Rd.
ADOT is holding a public meeting seeking input on improvements. You may participate and provide input in several ways:
Attend the public meeting on Wednesday Aug. 16, 2023 from 5:50pm to 7:30pm. This in person meeting will be held at City of Apache Junction Multi-Generational Center (1035 N Idaho Rd, Apache Junction).
