NAR released a statement continuing to remind Congress that the majority of rental housing is owned and operated by small mom and pop property owners who have now gone more than a year without income. Representative Waters introduced a bill on Thursday, July 29th that would extend the rental eviction moratorium to Dec. 31, 2021.
The House Rules Committee is holding a hearing on Rep. Water’s bill on July 30th with the Democrats expected to try for a vote on the bill quickly, perhaps as early as July 30th.
NAR is encouraging members to remind their congressional representatives:
“Congress should focus on the effective deployment of nearly $50 billion in federal Emergency Rental Assistance Program (“ERAP”) funds rather than further extending any eviction moratoriums.”
