Last August the WeMAR Government Affairs Committee hosted a guest speaker who spoke to us about a bill being penned. The bill being penned was to create a new entity local governments could use to encourage economic development and large projects. The Economic Development Reimbursement Authority (EDRA) is that entity.
HB 2177 contains the language needed to create this entity. Overall, WeMAR was content with the bill, but we do and did have concerns regarding language and the possible misuse of the EDRA in the future.
To address these concerns, we provided our feedback. I thought you might enjoy reading WeMAR Comments Regarding EDRA and HB 2177
We have also submitted these comments to Nicole LaSlavic, Vice President AAR Government Affairs.
