The City of Surprise has collected and posted to their website data on residential permits issued, concept reviews held, and design review cases. This data compares 2021 and year to date 2022.
With a population of 155,070, Surprise has grown quickly from its 32,348 in 2000. And all those people need housing. To aid you in determining what housing increases are coming, the City’s Growth and Development Dashboard will help.
To give you an idea of how much and how fast housing is coming I looked at April, May, June and July numbers.

Comparing to last year, Surprise had 1,480 single family permits in 2021 and already has 1,682 in 2022. A 14% increase and we have 5 months left in 2022.
In multi family, the city issues 106 multifamily permits in 2021. Already in 2022, they have issued 160 multifamily permits. An increase of 51% over 2021.
