Our President was Richard Nixon, The Beatles release Abbey Road, the Concord had its first test flight, the Boeing 747 jumbo jet debuted, Woodstock had 350,000 rock-n-roll fans show up, PBS was established, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first humans to touch the moon on Apollo 11. And ARPANET sends communication between its two computers, one at UCLA and one at Stanford Research Institute. The Internet was born.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was 800, the average income was $8,550.00, the average new car cost $3,270, gas was 35 cents/gallon, the average rent was $135/mo, and the average new house cost $15,550.00. Inflation was at 5.46%/year.
